Let the fun begin!

So, with all these little nifty things in place, and the PID finally arrived - let the fun begin! I took the machine apart earlier, and really hope I won't ever see a 30°C difference in the boiler temperature again. If this turns out well, I really have the hope that I successfully fought upgradeitus for quite a while.

"boiler" tells me it's not for cooling down a CPU... :) Anyway, looking forward to a good cup of coffee in your new flat.

Can't decide whether the syringe contains thermally conducting paste, or plainly some kind of glue...

You're right. Currently, a thermostat is controlling the heating element, which comes on if the temperature is under 88°C and goes off if the temperature shoots over 110°C, with an overshoot temperature of ca. 118°C. That's such a huge gap that it's actually a game to get a drinkable espresso. With the PID, which finally arrived, I hope to get the temperature gap from 88°C-118°C to 90°C-95°C or even better spot-on a set temperature +-1°C. The thing in the tube is definitly not glue :)
